Making the decision to leave a longtime profession with little to no creative outlet, to me, was a risk worth taking. The ultimate goal was to turn photography from a hobby to a profession. Nine years later, that's exactly what I'm doing as a commercial and documentary photographer in Austin, Texas.
Now, as a full-time staff photographer for the Texas House of Representatives, I act as a visual historian at the State Capitol here in Austin. My personal work centers around music, fashion and street photography and I am lucky to live in a city that cultivates these passions.
I capture what captivates me. There are so many moments in life where we forget to stop and remember what we saw, how we felt. This is where my work comes into play. I share moments, capture emotions and work to find the beauty in any situation. Whether I am creating a set for studio work or photographing a live show, you can expect to feel something when you see the images.
"To me, photography is the simultaneous recognition, in a fraction of a second, of the significance of an event."
